
Purpose: To practice the immediate crisis response script.

V – Validate (Connection): Get down to the child’s level and name their emotion in a low voice. “I see you’re furious because the ice cream fell. That’s very frustrating.” (Don’t deny, don’t judge).

A – Accept the Limit (Calm): State the boundary firmly and calmly, without excuses. “The ice cream can’t be picked up off the floor. The answer is NO.” (Tone is key: low volume, high firmness).

L – Lead to Action (Focus): Redirect the tantrum energy toward a simple action. “Do you need a hug right now, or do you want to go wash your hands first?” (Offer only two acceptable paths forward).
