Purpose: To create a realistic plan for maintaining changes long-term.
-
The Law of Consistency: Boundaries only work when they are predictable and applied consistently by all caregivers (parents, grandparents, sitters). Inconsistency creates anxiety and more tantrums.
-
Self-Care as a Parenting Strategy: Recognize that the adult’s lack of sleep, nutrition, or personal time directly affects their capacity to be patient and regulate the child. Self-care is a requirement, not a luxury.
-
Support Plan: Design a “tag-team” plan: “Who steps in when the other parent is about to explode?” (Proactive management of burnout).
