Heal your inner child

To heal your wound, it is essential to understand how your childhood brain processed and stored those painful experiences.

THE REPTILIAN BRAIN (0-7 YEARS) During your first years, your rational brain was not yet developed. You only had your primitive brain, which operates on a very simple logic:

SAFE = SURVIVAL DANGER = DEATH

Your child’s brain did not distinguish between:

⚡Real physical danger vs. emotional danger

☀️Temporary threat vs. permanent threat

🫂Reality vs. perception

That’s why situations that are manageable for an adult were survival threats to your inner child.

THE THREE SURVIVAL RESPONSES

When your brain detected “emotional danger,” it automatically activated one of these responses:

  1. FIGHT Manifestations in childhood:
  • Tantrums and fits
  • Defiance of authority
  • Verbal or physical aggression
  • “Rebellious” behavior

👨‍🦱In your adult life, it becomes:

  • Disproportionate anger in conflicts
  • A need to always be right
  • Unnecessary confrontations
  • Difficulty yielding or negotiating

  1. FLIGHT Manifestations in childhood:
  • Isolation and withdrawal
  • Avoiding social situations
  • Escape fantasies
  • Evasive behaviour

👨‍🦱In your adult life, it becomes:

  • Avoiding conflict at all costs
  • Chronic procrastination
  • Difficulty committing
  • Fleeing when relationships intensify

  1. FREEZE Manifestations in childhood:
  • Paralysis in stressful situations
  • Dissociation (mentally disconnecting)
  • “Perfect” behavior out of fear
  • Total submission

👨‍🦱In your adult life, it becomes:

  • Emotional blockages
  • Difficulty making decisions
  • A feeling of being “disconnected”
  • Paralysis in the face of change
